Degree On Line
IS GETTING A DEGREE ON LINE RIGHT FOR ME?
Getting a degree on line is a fantastic way to pursue your education. You have a huge number of choices for the type of degree, the length of the program, the requirements for the degree, and the level of interaction that you can have with the teachers and the other students. Plus, nothing can beat the convenience of sitting down to work on your degree whenever the time is best for you. Three in the morning? Only on your lunch break? At random fifteen minute intervals throughout the day? All of these options are possible. Yet for some people, it is this level of independence and flexibility that can actually be a problem.
Learning in a non-traditional way means that you have to make some non-traditional choices. You will need to be sure that you can create the kind of environment for learning that will ensure your success. Here are some questions to ponder before deciding if this is the right kind of program for you to pursue:
- Do you have the discipline to carve a specific block of time out of your day to dedicate to your studies?
- Will you be able to say ‘no’ when someone or something comes along that seems a lot more fun than studying at the time?
- Will your family and friends be supportive when you tell them that you have to make some changes in your routine in order to pursue your degree?
- Do you have enough interest in a subject that it will hold your attention even when you aren’t interacting with others?
Your success depends on your ability to form the kinds of boundaries around your time that will allow you the time you need to concentrate and study. Getting a degree online isn’t for everyone, but if you have the necessary discipline, it just might be right for you.
